This site is a tribute to Bob and the person he was someone who would do anything to help someone out, no matter if it stopped him doing something for himself.
He joined the RAF during National Service and stayed on to complete his qualifications. He served in Christmas Island and was part of the tug team that took the atomic bomb out to sea. He told plenty of stories about his time there, in Haiwaii and in Northern Cyprus.
He also spent some time as a fire man on the steam trains. His passion for steam trains continued throughout his life even going on a trip on the Orient Express with George.
As a younger man Bob loved his motor bikes and the Isle of Man TT racing, even showing films at his wedding to George. He also liked his golf and fishing.
He bravely took over two step children when he married George and supported them like a Father throughout his life.
Bob was sadly diagnosed with dementia in 2016 which became worse in 2019 when, following a fall, he had to have brain surgery. We never thought he would survive it but he was such a strong man , he began to walk and talk again even though the hospital were not sure if he would be able to again.
Sadly the worsening dementia meant we lost the man we used to know, but every now and then you would see a glint in his eye and a smile as he teased George
He is much loved and will always be remembered.
